On Tuesday, 24th September 2024, we had the privilege of celebrating with our school community and local authority the exceptional outcomes of our recent Ofsted inspection, held in June 2024. This event also marked a broader celebration of the past 19 years of Fiveways School being recognized as an Outstanding Provider of Education—a truly remarkable achievement for both our school and the local authority.
We are particularly proud to be the only local authority school in Somerset to have achieved an Outstanding rating in all areas under the new Ofsted framework introduced in 2019.
A number of key figures from the local authority joined us for this special day, including:
- Duncan Sharkey – Chief Executive
- Councillor Bill Ravens – Lead Member of Somerset Council
- Mohammed Saddiq – Lord Lieutenant of Somerset
- Cllr Jo Roundell Greene – Associate Lead Member for Children’s Services and Education Strategy
- Claire Winter – Director for Children, Families and Education
- Claire Merchant Jones – Head of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Heather Good – Head of Education Leadership
As part of the celebration, we were honoured to receive a plaque presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammed Sadiq, in recognition of our achievements.
We were delighted to showcase our school to visitors, introduce them to our wonderful staff and pupils, and celebrate this extraordinary milestone together.
In true Fiveways style, the celebration assembly concluded with a spirited rendition of What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud? This also provided a fun opportunity to teach our visitors a few Signalong signs so they could join us in signing and singing along.
It was an unforgettable day for everyone involved, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our school community and all our visitors for making this day so special.
