Introduction by the Headteacher
The purpose of this website is to give you a brief introduction to our school. If you are still left with questions please do not hesitate to contact me. You are also very welcome to visit and experience ‘first hand’ the happy and purposeful atmosphere of the school.
Fiveways School provides an ‘Outstanding’ education for the 80 pupils who are drawn from the South Somerset area. Our school is designed for children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties. Each pupil’s needs are carefully and sensitively addressed, within the context of a well developed curriculum. We place an understanding of our pupil’s Communication and Interaction needs at the heart of the educational process.
We believe that our pupils should enjoy school and have fun while they learn.
Our committed staff work as a team to provide a specialist education, enabling all pupils to develop to their full potential. To this end we are keen to work with parents and carers to ensure continuity of approach.
The school is situated within ‘green’ and spacious grounds.
Fiveways is an outward looking special school, keen to promote the opportunities for pupils with special needs within their local communities.
We were one of the first special schools to be designated as a National Teaching School (The Somerset Partnership Teaching School). We are committed to ensuring our staff and those wider afield have the skills and knowledge to ensure children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities make the very best progress possible.
Please do contact me if you would like to know more about the school.
A Message from our Chairman of Governors
A warm welcome to our school. The Senior management team, staff and Governors are dedicated to providing your child with the best education, environment and enjoyment throughout their time at Fiveways. We are a forward looking Governing body always seeking to improve and enhance the facilities for our children. We believe in a close family atmosphere that is welcoming to everybody and provides an easy learning environment.
Our aim is to listen to those who use the school and use this as the basis of future development. In order to do this we publish an Annual Report in the Spring term so that any issues may be discussed, before setting the School Improvement Plan for the following year.
From time to time vacancies exist on the Governing Body and new members are always welcomed into the team.
Please look at our website and if you feel you would benefit from contacting any of the governors then please feel free to do so via the school.
